Jeff Taylor

Jeff Taylor was born in Arlington Texas in 1958 and attended The University at Austin. He began painting while still in high school and while he pursued other careers, he was eventually able to make painting his full time profession.

He has many styles, however he prefers to paint in acrylic on canvas; and his usual subject matter is landscapes of varying abstract to some semi-realistic nature.

"I feel like the job of the artist isn't necessarily to depict a specific place, but to create a painting that the viewer can put him or herself into, using their own experiences and memories. I find that by staying to the abstract side of an image, it allows more interpretation by the person who acquires the art and lives with it."

"I don't paint for myself, I paint for the person who will eventually look at the particular image day after day for months or even years. For myself, abstract images have a longer life and change over time. They remain fresh, even after looking at them over and over again."
